Unit Value

Binary vs decimal units

Operating systems traditionally show file sizes using binary multiples (1 KB = 1024 bytes), while storage manufacturers and the SI standard use decimal multiples (1 KB = 1000 bytes). This is why a "1 TB" hard drive shows up as roughly 931 GiB in your file explorer.
